If you own a single serve brewer, a reusable K-cup is a must have in every kitchen. It gives you control over what beans you put in your coffee, it puts less pressure on the environment, and saves you a ton of money in the long run. But with all the Keurig models on the market, the huge number of disposable cups, and confusing array of colors, it has become a chore finding which cup is best for you. We are here to save you time and frustration in choosing the K-cup that’s right for you.
Our experts have scoured the market for the best reusable K-cup and tested them against each series of Keurig machines out on the market. We were able to find the K-cups that worked best for each single serve Keurig model while functioning normally. The factors we relied on to make these judgements were the following: Compatibility, Reliability, Coffee Strength, and Pricing.
In September 2012, Keurig’s patent expired and they began to incorporate Digital Rights Management (DRM) into their brewers. DRM scanners detect the color of your cup to decide if it is a Keurig approved K-cup. Thus different Keurig models will only work with certain K-cup colors. We simplify this down to two types of cups. Most Keurig models will take the purple reusable cups (For brewing a K-cup) or the orange reusable cups (For brewing K-Carafe).
Not all reusable K-cups are made the same. Most reusable K-cups are made with plastic hinges that will break through repeated use. Additionally, many reusable K-cups come with a variety of styles, screens, and materials. We are looking for well-built K-cups with reliable screens and hinges that will provide you the best reliability.
The basket style on each reusable K-cup allows more water to filter out without giving the coffee enough time to brew with the water. The strength of your coffee depends largely on two factors: coffee grind and water flow rate. If your coffee grind is too coarse or too fine, you can end up with coffee that is weak or bitter. If your reusable K-cup has too many openings to allow water to escape, your coffee will end up watered down.
Many companies are selling the same reusable K-cups for different prices. We scoured through all the products to find you the best deal given the best compatibility, reliability, balanced coffee strength. While the market continuously changes, we will continue to update this guide to make sure to provide an updated list of the best vendor and pricing.

3) di Oro Caffè – DI ORO – MaxBrew 24K GOLD K-Cup Reusable Filter for Keurig 2.0/1.0 Small Single K-Cup
Beautiful, well designed reusable K-cup that uses 24k gold to filter your coffee. The honeycomb filter is well-designed and keeps all but the finest coffee particles out of your cup of coffee. Additionally, this reusable K-cup will defeat the Keurig DRM and allow you to use it in most Keurig brewers. While the Di Oro MaxBrew is high quality construction it has some drawbacks. It is ranked third on our list due to the high pricing and for being less user friendly. The Maxbrew can damage your Keurig if you are not careful placing it into the holder (Damage the needle from improper placement). Additionally, it suffers from the same issues as other plastic cups (Which is why we recommend having several on hand) of having a weak hinge. Otherwise, if you want to drink your coffee in style, the MaxBrew is the way to go.
